EEC
Patch-Lining Used By National Grid
Euro
Environmental Contractors has successfully completed an extensive
rehabilitation contract for the National Grid as part of an
overall refurbishment project at their electrical sub-station
in Willesden.
EEC
were initially contracted to carry out routine maintenance
to clean the drainage system across the 8000 square metre
sub station using its high pressure jetting technology and
conduct a CCTV pipeline survey of the area.
EEC’s survey
team identified a number of partial collapses, fractures and
holes in various areas which required immediate repair.
Most
of the issues could be completed using the company’s
patch lining service which enables a complete repair of the
pipe without the need for digging up the effected area. The
patch lining repairs use an organic resin which effectively
forms pipes within pipes that are structurally stronger than
the pipe itself.
EEC’s
Project Manager, Gareth Parry-Jones, explained “Patch
lining enables us to carry out localised point repairs to
defects in pipelines at a fraction of the cost compared to
full scale excavation or indeed full length lining. This has
proved invaluable on this project where many pipelines run
under major electrical pylons and transformers.”
EEC employ the
latest patch lining technology on the market which is fully
approved to WRC standards and can offer up to 50 Year guarantees
on completed works.
EEC’s
survey team also identified a complete collapse of a pipeline
in one area which required EEC’s civils team to excavate
the affected area, source the collapse and install a replacement.
Gareth continued,
“Whilst patch lining provides the perfect solution in
most occasions even with partial collapses, full excavation
is sometimes the only answer. In this particular instance
EEC’s experienced civils team successfully carried out
the full operation within this hazardous area with a supreme
commitment to the health and safety procedures laid out by
the client.”
EEC has become
one of the leading players in patch lining solutions with
hundreds of successful applications across a diverse range
of applications.
